Structural expression as design feature. The ceiling’s exposed steel beam grid, finished in a deep oxblood red, is left visible rather than concealed — turning a structural necessity into the space’s defining gesture. Linear pendant lighting is built into the beams, casting a warm glow through the room.

Zoning through verticality, not walls. Instead of solid partitions, a freestanding steel-framed plant tower — stacked with cascading greenery in oak planters — separates the catering and lounge areas. It reads as a living screen: open zoning that adds texture to an otherwise industrial setting.

Considered detailing at close range. The plant tower holds up to close inspection. Steel base plates are bolted to the floor for stability, oak planter boxes join cleanly into the frame, and each box sits on a bed of white marble chippings beneath the planting — keeping the greenery looking curated, not potted. The same care shows in the table joinery, where oxblood steel meets oak tabletops in a clean, exposed connection.

Material and colour restraint. A limewashed, travertine-toned wall sets a warm, neutral backdrop, letting the red steel and cobalt blue shelving act as deliberate accents rather than competing for attention. Dark grey tile flooring grounds the palette with a sense of order fitting a factory admin wing.

Furniture as counterpoint. Tan leather lounge chairs and a black marble-top coffee table soften the industrial framing. Sculptural black bar stools line a communal high table, encouraging informal, standing conversation.

Detail as hospitality. A backlit circular mirror, curated ceramic accessories, and a dedicated tea and coffee station round out the space — a level of care not always expected in a factory admin wing.

Together, these choices reflect SCAACH’s design philosophy: even functional, brief-driven spaces deserve architectural intention.
